ANCESTOR RADIO

Currently performing as a five piece with some new and very talented musicians,

‘Ancestor Radio’ spins a joyfully contagious web of music, at once danceable and inspiring. Their sound draws from aesthetic and cultural roots of Africa, the Caribbean and the Americas, while exploring into the sensibilities of today, with a broad-based and eclectically diverse repertoire.

Ancestor Radio was formed over five years ago out of the rhythmic collaborations and writing concepts of Marcos DeFluri MMA {Guitar} and Diano Garcia {Percussion}. Now joined with the musical expertise of Hawk Arps {Vibraphone}, Colin Doherty {Bass}, and Paula Geroux {percussion} the band is hotter than ever, with added musical flavors reaching into the Jazz and Latin forms.

“This project for me is a chance to take all of the traditional forms of music I’ve studied and meld them together into one infectious dance groove,” says  DeFluri, originally from the East Coast and a graduate of Combs College of Music in Philadelphia, PA. “This is truly musical alchemy.”

The band has performed and toured extensively in the Northwest and Hawaii over the past five years, while writing and preparing music for their first studio release. The self-titled album was released in April 2005.
